As we move further into 2021, almost a full year into the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s time to reflect on what we’ve learned. While our process still evolves daily, here are some basic dos and don’ts that have come to light after reporting hundreds of Zoom depositions.

It’s amazing what new carpet, a fresh coat of paint and new office furniture can do to a place – modern updates to our historic building.
One conference room will comfortably seat 6-8 participants, and the main conference room seats 10, in addition to a videographer.
When I chose to go to court reporting school, I can remember thinking it would be exactly like what I saw on TV. I used to love all of the television courtroom dramas of the ‘80s. Just think, in two years’ time I would be in a dramatic courtroom every day sitting front and center!

Anxiety is sometimes described as a feeling of drowning. Gasping for air, worrying if the next breath will come, consumed with the most basic functions of being a human.
Having been a court reporter for many years and having been involved in multiple interpreter-assisted depositions - and as such having witnessed many calamitous outcomes - please allow me to pass along a few tips to keep in mind when using an interpreter for your deposition.

My grandfather was a union carpenter by trade, a craftsman. As a child I was fascinated with his hand tools; the chisels, the different types of wrenches and hammers that he kept oiled and stored in his musty cellar. They came out of the back of his station wagon each night when he came home from work.
